Dale is a veteran non-profit executive and entrepreneur whose career has included leadership roles with the Smithsonian, CARE, The Phillips Collection, Arena Stage, and Penumbra Theatre Company.
As founder and principal of Edgewood—a fundraising and multimedia and theatrical production company— Dale advances clients, partners, and projects functioning at the intersection of innovation, accessibility, creative expression, and social justice.
Edgewood's stable of bold works includes award-winning American composer/conductor/director Nolan Williams, Jr.'s new productions: GRACE, STIRRING THE WATERS ACROSS AMERICA, and DEVINE HAMER GRAY; a daring, universal new play by Kennan Scott II, THOUGHTS OF A COLORED MAN; Michael R. Jackson's Pulitzer Prize-winning new musical, A STRANGE LOOP; and, for Broadway, the critically acclaimed play, THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Cherry Jones, and Bobby Canavale.
Edgewood provides fundraising guidance and services to select clients. Clients have included the Theatre Development Fund (TDF), PostClassical Ensemble, the National Association of Veterans Research and Education Foundations (NAVREF), ARMR Systems, and ArtsEmerson. Dale recently worked with The Metropolitan Opera providing audience engagement guidance for the 2019-2020 season-opening presentation of Porgy and Bess.
Dale completed graduate work at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute for Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota as a Patricia Roberts Harris Fellow, after earning a B.A. in sociology with high honors from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi.
A native Louisianan and active art collector, Dale is a member of the board of directors of the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans. He is also a member of 2015 Society for the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, The Dramatists Guild, and the Theatre Communications Group.
Dale and his husband, Ken Hyle, are major foodies and split their time between Washington, DC, and New Orleans, LA.
